Overdue Policy

Overdue Policy

(May 2013)

Approved by Krum Library Advisory Board, May 21, 2013

Approved by Krum City Council June 3, 2013

All library materials borrowed from Krum Public Library must be returned in good condition and by the due date as determined by the owning library. Fines for Krum Public Library items will be posted in the library and on the library website.  Other libraries may have different fines.  Fines collected by the Krum Public Library for libraries in the North Texas Library Consortium will remain in Krum. North Texas Library Consortium items that are deemed damaged or lost will be invoiced by the owning library. Krum Public Library will then pay the loaning library.  Fines collected for items borrowed through the Inter Library Loan system will be paid to the loaning library.

Library patrons are responsible for the replacement cost of borrowed materials that are either lost or damaged.  The term “damaged” shall mean that the condition of the material is such that it is not fit to be borrowed again by other library patrons.  The owning library will make the determination of whether the item is repairable, and if so, will charge the cost of the repair or the replacement cost of the item.

Items claimed returned will be marked missing after three months.  The patron will be responsible for the cost of replacement.

Fines may be waived based on the Library Director’s discretion.
