Your Library Card

Getting a card, renewing materials, etc.

Books and other media will be checked out to patrons as long as they have an up-to-date, non-restricted library card on file at the library.


Getting a Card

To Obtain a library card, the patron must:

  • Be a resident of the state of Texas.
  • Present some form of identification (driver's license, student card, tax receipt, etc.)

Checkout Periods

Materials will be checked out according to the following policy:

  • Books & Reading aids – 2 weeks
  • Multimedia & Media Devices – 2 weeks
  • Reference Materials – may not be checked out;
  • Some materials may be temporarily put on a shorter check-out period due to high demand. 
  • Materials on reserve may not be renewed. 

Borrowing Limits/Policies

  • Patrons are limited to 10 items per card.
  • The library card for a child under 16 years of age must be signed by a parent or guardian. A child may receive his/her own library card upon entering first grade. Parents/guardians must check out items for younger children on their card.
  • Parents/legal guardians are financially responsible for any lost or damaged materials checked out by their children who are under 18 years of age.


Renewing Your Borrowed Items

Items may be re-checked for two weeks (4 renewals). On the fifth renewal, patrons will be asked to check items in. Items can be renewed either by phone at 940-482-3455, emailing us at circulation@krumlibrary.org or at the library.
