Staff Pick from Joy

I recommend Everybody in the Red Brick Building, written by Anne Wynter and illustrated by Oge Mora. This picture book tells the story of an eventful night in an apartment building after a baby starts crying. The collage style illustrations are colorful and bring a bit of whimsy to a simple tale. The use of repetitive onomatopoeia builds the story without being too long so as to help hold a child’s attention. Because the book brings the action back to a gentle close, it is a great bedtime read-aloud for children of all ages.
