April 2024 Volume 5 Issue 7

Director's Corner

Time sure does fly in March! We are looking forward to a busy spring - especially on April 27th! On that Saturday we will have Reading with Rover from 10:30 to 11:30, followed by Baby Day from noon to 3. We will have vision and dental screening, and lots of activities for little ones. Krum Public Library is helping an organization called First 3 Years with their annual celebration of the first 3 years of life. This is a great opportunity for parents/caregivers to enjoy fun and engaging activities.

Did You Know

During the first 3 years of life, 85% of lifetime brain development occurs. The pathways formed in the first 3 years lay the foundation for the rest of a child's life. KPL is partnering with the organization First 3 Years to bring you Baby Day on April 27th. Baby Day events are full of fun and engaging activities designed for parents/caregivers and their babies and toddlers to enjoy together. Come learn the value of play and ways you can foster growth and learning in the little ones in your life.

Remember When?

(A look back at important events in literary history—author birthdays, book/character debuts, and dates in books)

4/1/1992 Mary Higgins Clark's All Around Town is published.

4/3/1920 F. Scott Fitzgerald and Zelda Sayre marry.

4/19/1824 English poet Lord Byron dies.

Staff Pick - Jeannette

I recommend the junior fiction book All the Small Wonderful Things by Kate Foster. Why this book? First of all, there is a picture of a kid sitting outside in the yard, with his beautiful and loyal dog, and who does not like nature and dogs?

Even when you think you have everything well-planned, things change. That is part of life, but with the support of your family and friends and dogs (man's best friend) you can overcome obstacles.

This is a very modern and refreshing story. I really hope you have the chance to read it and enjoy it as much as I did.
