August 2021 Volume 2, Issue 11
Director's Corner It doesn’t seem possible that August has arrived! Time flies when you are having fun at the library. The Summer Reading Program was great this year – it was so nice to be able to offer at least a couple of “in-person” activities. We have three programs in August. Our next outdoor movie is August 7th – starring a very smart girl. On August 11th we are hosting a program for people turning 65 this year to learn what you need to know about Medicare. For the kids, Reading with Rover is back! On August 28th the dogs will be at the library to listen to the kids read stories. Dogs are some of the very best listeners and they never criticize your reading. Enjoy the “dog days of August” with a good book or a fun movie. Stay cool, stay hydrated (but please, don’t spill liquids on our books!) and enjoy the rest of summer!

Staff Pick from Katrina For my recommendation this month I'm actually going with a pair of DVDs that are new to the library and definitely deserve a look! The Father (director Florian Zeller, starring Anthony Hopkins) tells the story of a man afflicted with Alzheimer's disease and depicts the effect of his dementia on his adult daughter who is tasked with caring for him. Minari (director Lee Isaac Chung, starring Steven Yeun) is a feel-good dramedy about a Korean-American family that moves to a Arkansas farm in search of a new life (side-note: this family also has the cutest little boy I have ever seen). Both films are outstanding and my personal favorites of all the movies released last year. Make sure to check them out!
