Director's Corner

It is hard to believe that January is over! Here at the library we are starting to get back to our regularly scheduled programming, along with a couple of special events! Be sure to follow us on Facebook and check our website calendar.  Also, check out the City’s new Savvy Citizen notification system to see what special programs are happening at the library and throughout the city.

Did You Know?

February 7 is Send a Card to a Friend Day. This would be a good time to send a note of encouragement to brighten your friend's day. Stop by the library Wednesday, February 7 and take advantage of the card-making supplies that will be available to help you reach out to your friends.

Remember When?

(A look back at important events in literary history—author birthdays, book/character debuts, and dates in books)

Staff Pick - Donna

Those people we never see - janitors, cleaners, security guards - just what do they do all day? This book tells the story of a security guard at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and his 10-year journey of growth and learning.

His reason for taking the job was to hide from the world following the death of his big brother. His reason for quitting was to re-enter the outside world and start a new chapter in his life while hoping to share all he learned on the journey with his two young children.

It is an easy read but it did make me want to go to the museum. Now to find a way to go there without dealing with all the people in New York City!
