Director's Corner
Spring has sprung - at least in my backyard which is full of weeds and daffodils! If you enjoyed the Master Gardner's program in February, let us know and we will try to have them back again. If you don't know what to do with the kids over spring break, the library will have several programs. Stop by and see what is new. Library staff hope you have a very Happy Easter. We will be closed March 29 and 30 in observance of the holiday.
Did You Know?
Do you want to learn a new craft or hobby? Have you already started learning one but want to move to the next level? KPL has a Craft & Hobby Database that gives you access to online video tutorials and classes on a variety of crafting topics such as art, sewing, knitting, woodworking, photography, cake design, and more.
Remember When?
(A look back at important events in literary history—author birthdays, book/character debuts, and dates in books)
3/1/2008 William W. Johnstone's Ambush Valley is published.
3/18/1932 American novelist John Updike is born.
Staff Pick - Joy
I recommend the junior non-fiction series "The United States Encyclopedia," which contains The Presidents Encyclopedia, The Government Encyclopedia, The National Parks Encyclopedia, and The States Encyclopedia. Each volume contains 2-4 page entries that include facts, pictures and a brief description. These books are an ideal reference for 3rd-8th graders that need to do research or just want to satisfy their curiosity on these American topics. The layout is easy to read and eye-catching, while the similar format of the entries makes it easy for kids to quickly glean the information they need.
