November 2021 Volume 3, Issue 2

Director's Corner November – the month we honor our veterans and celebrate Thanksgiving with family and friends. We have a brand new children’s book, Twenty-one Steps: Guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier that is perfect reading for Veteran’s Day. Plus, we have lots of fun books about Thanksgiving, books with ideas for things to do (What To Do With a Box and What To Do With A String are two of the newest ones), and books to relax with during the holiday. The week after Thanksgiving is the Krum Tree Lighting followed by the Library’s Yule Ball. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Did You Know?

  • Have you used the Interlibrary Loan System (ILL)? The ILL system allows us to request books from any participating library in the country. If you are looking for a hard to find item, ask a librarian about ILL. For the last 5 years we have gotten in an average of 100 books a year through Interlibrary Loan!

  • Through the Texshare Databases, our patrons have access to LearningExpress Library, which has resources for students of all ages, college prep materials, and job/ career tips and resources. For more information or to obtain a TexShare login, ask a KPL librarian.

Staff Pick from Joy

I recommend Flip! How the Frisbee Took Flight. This picture book tells the story of the invention of the now famous toy and the entrepreneurial spirit of its inventor. The book is well-researched and the illustrations are very detailed and colorful, making it an inviting read. This book is just one of the many excellent picture books KPL has gotten recently that teach, inspire, or encourage children and adults alike with well-written stories and beautiful or whimsical illustrations.
