October 2022 Volume 4, Issue 1

Director's Corner October has arrived – along with (fingers crossed) cooler weather! Fall is here and Halloween is just around the corner. If you need ideas for costumes or parties, we have books on making Halloween costumes and party ideas. If you want a scary (or not so scary) movie to watch or book to read we have a lot of those! October is also a good month to help out your community. The Krum Friends of the Library is gearing up for their Halloween Carnival on the 22nd and would love more volunteers. Lastly, join me in welcoming our newest staff member Mason Marshall, who has volunteered for us and recently joined our weekend staff.

Did You Know? KPL partners with local organizations to help those in need. Donation boxes are located in the library lobby.

Staff Pick

My recommendation for this month is the film Vengeance, a recently released comedy (with a little drama and suspense thrown in) by BJ Novak. Novak is best known as a writer for The Office, a TV staple which most of you know and probably love, but he takes things to the next level with this movie about a haughty New York podcaster who gets drawn into a murder mystery in West Texas. As a Texan, I love the attention to detail and the affection that the film has for its setting. There are many laughs to be had about culture clashes and the meeting of red and blue states, but the movie avoids mocking Texans while still poking a little fun at some of our quirks, and the mystery will keep you guessing till the end! Check it out. - from Katrina
